Event

The Events listing feature provides a way to capture the details of your events. These events can then be displayed in various formats.

How to Create an Event:

  1. Click "Manage" in the top bar
  2. Click "Content"
  3. Click "Add content"
  4. Select "Event"
  5. Insert a title for your Event in the "Title" text area.
  6. Enter the information about your event in the Fields you would like that are described below.
  7. "Summary Fields" are the short versions of the Event which are displayed on the page through a View.
    • "Short Title" is an abbreviated title to be displayed on the page.
    • Add a "Link to Event" this is the text that will appear for the link. Visitors will be able to click on this text to visit the full Event.
    • The "URL" section allows you to insert the URL or node of the site you would like to reference.
    • The "Summary" text area is where you can create an enticing summary that will draw the user to learn more about the event.
  8. Click on "Save"

Fields

  1. Title: Title of your event
  2. Category: Allows you to place this event in custom categories with events that are similar to it. This field is optional.
  3. Show on Front Page: Creates an upcoming events section on the bottom of the front page
  4. Event Photos: Photos relating to the event Note: Images must be larger than 568 x 426 pixels, but less than 2 MB.
  5. When: Date and time of the event
  6. Event description: What the event is about
  7. Event Contacts: Contact information for questions about the event
  8. Where: Location of the event

How to Add an Event to Your Page:

  1. Go to the page you would like to have the Event displayed on
  2. Select the "Edit" Tab on the blue menu bar under the Title.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Add View.
  4. The "View" drop down menu is where you can select the type of View. For Events, the proper Views will be formatted:
    • uaqs_events - {style}: Events

Styles of Event Views

  • Master - Shows the Event's image in full with the date of the Event and a link for the user to read more about the event.
  • Full Calendar - Displays the Events dates on one side, then the title of the Event and the time of the event on a ribbon display, with a link for the user to read more about the Event.
  • Event list block - This View displays the Events similar to the "Master" View described above, however it offers visual separation at the top and bottom of the list, and a link to view the events on a full calendar. 
  • Event Card Group - Displays the Events in a 3 column display showing the Event title and date with a link to the full Event calendar.
  • Event Card Group Sidebar - Displays 3 Events as ribbon bars with the title and date that link to the full Event.

Note: Using a View will display your news items or events in order by date and update them automatically. More information about Views can be found here.

Calendar Widget Block

This visual calendar widget allows the user to filter the Full Calendar view of events. You also get the added functionality of seeing past events. Enable the Calendar Widget Block
