Categorizing Content (Taxonomy)
Taxonomy Terms are the terms by which you can categorize content on your website. Once a taxonomy term (category) is created, content can be tagged by it. This enables content to be grouped and listed based on the taxonomy terms (category).
Creating the Taxonomy Term
- Navigate to Manage > Structure > Taxonomy
- Person Categories > List Terms
- Select Add Term
- Name your term and enter a description if you'd like.
- Save
Finding the Taxonomy Term ID
- Navigate to Manage > Structure > Taxonomy
- Click List Terms next to the desired content type
- Click Edit next to the desired term
- Copy the Term ID in the URL (On the example below: /term/4 means the term ID is 4).
Using the Taxonomy Term
- Navigate to the page that you would like the content displayed on.
- Select the "Edit" Tab on the blue menu bar under the Title.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Add View.”
- Select the type of View you would like displayed:
- Specify the Term ID in the "Arguments" field
- Note: If people, news, or events are showing up twice, specify the term as
4,4
to display only that category - To display items that have two or more categories, use quotes like
"4,5"
- Note: If people, news, or events are showing up twice, specify the term as
- Save
Note: Taxonomy Term ID's are created as you create the category, no matter the Content type.
